Why can't something like web vision be made available for graphics?

Part of the reason for not automatically speaking the graphic CRC value
is because in most cases the only time anyone cares about it is when
trying to label graphics. Most people don't do this and when some people
do it, then using the clip hot keys are used. A script could be written
to help automate this of course. So when you have one written and it
does this, perhaps you can upload it to Script Central, *smile*.

Another way of doing this, would of course be, if a script would have
numbered the graphics with the CRC number 'vissible'. That is, when
moving your mouse over the graphic, instead of just hearing 'graphic',
it could have given you the CRC number right away, without that
double-clicking on each graphic. The less keystrokes, the quicker the
job. And the script could simply have an ON/OFF hotkey, so you could
choose whether you want the CRC number automatically spoken or not.

Yeh, well. The CRC is great enough. But when you are trying to define
graphics for a new ap, it would have been easier to work with
graphics, that were consecutively numbered, 1, 2, 3 etc. Now, you have
the CRC numbers 926, 497, 239; and they are not in any order. Somehow
more tidious to find your way around. Besides, it would have been nice
not to do all that INS-Numpad8, double-clicking. If the Graphics had
just been numbered right away, you could simply mouse your way around
on the screen, and keep track of which graphics you have already
explored. Believe me, I have tried both WE's way of doing it, and the
other, and I truly miss the graphics-numbering feature. Allright, if
it can be done with a script, go ahead, long as it works, scripts are
fine. Anyone of you scripters, who would like a challenge :)?

Shannon, the use you get from knowing the CRC value is that you can now
know when you are on graphic A VS graphic B. Since by default
Window-Eyes says graphic, you may not know which graphic you are dealing
with. However if you listen to the value, it's a unique number for that
graphic. No other graphic will have it unless it's the exact same one.

Hope this helps.

what use is that value? How does that help figure out what it is?
Do you have to be a programer to know what a CRC value is?

Hi. The read clip hot keys will do this. Press insert-numpad-8
twice and
you will hear the graphic CRC value.

Many thanks.

Now if I remember correctly, one can place the mouse on a graphic and have a 3 digit number describing it. One can press the key again and
get a more detailed description of the graphic. Can't remember
the key
stroke off the top of my head, but anyone who wants to use it
should be
able to find the key in short order. RD
