This still happens on Windows XP. I notice that it occurs when I am looking at a long list of files over my wireless home network. It is a timing issue. If I press the first letter before the list has loaded then the first keystroke is not passed to Windows. If I wait until We lets me know that the list has been loaded, then I can press the first letter, then the second one of a file name. Even so this cannot be done too quickly. In using any system, like a PC running Windows, PDA, digital player, etc, they all have their rhythms. It is important to get to know them otherwise you will find that things will lock up or not behave as we expect. These rhythms are also affected by the load on the system. Text to speech does require additional overhead. Vic

In Vista, I have a folder with 8 thousand items. Often letter navigation fails, and the problem is not do to Vista because it works when Window-Eyes is not running. Details: If I tap 2 or more letters, the folder search lands on items that begin with the second letter or beyond. This occurs after Window-Eyes has been running for a while. If I unload and then reload Window-Eyes, the problem goes away for a while. Peter Duran If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original sender only.
