You should really google that topic; it's quite a lengthy answer.

the short version is that a torrent is a way of specifying a large file to
be downloaded.  the specification goes to a server, and the server connects
you with many people who have this file, each of whom sends you small bits
of it, all at the same time.

because you have so many servers responding to your request for the file,
you can download a large file very quickly.  I mean a very large file, the
size of a DVD isn't unusual.

Does anyone know of an accessible bit torrent client program, that can be
used with window-eyes? I've heard of the ABC software, but I think it may no
longer be in existance. I've often heard about bittorrents, and I'm
