The placemarkers feature seems like a marvelous feature when one reads about it
in the Windo-Eyes manual. Unfortunately, my experience is that they seem to
work about 25% of the time. It occurred to me that the problem is likely
either in the way I'm attempting to use them or in the Websites themselves.
For example, in the Webmail application of Earthlink, placemarks consistently
fail. They never, ever, ever stick from one session to the next. I am
unchecking the "temporary" box, and I seem to follow all of the prompts,
usually identifying the 3rd option "text and line count" for location purposes.
Perhaps Earthlink just generates HTML on the fly, making placemarks useless.
I have another application called NetDocuments. It is a Web-based document
management system. It seems to hold the placemarkers a little better than does
Earthlink, but using the letter "k" does not consistently cycle through the
placemarkers. The maker of the product is anxious to demonstrate that its
product is accessible and to make needed changes. I'm wondering if there is
some advice I can offer the developers so their product is more accessible, and
it would be much more accessible if placemarkers actually worked consistently.
Of course, it may be that placemarkers are inherently unreliable, in which case
there is not much I can say.
Any tips, ideas, or suggestions would be appreciated.
