Hi,  I can input braille using my braille connect 40 no problem.  

.  You are running a focus.  That display doesn't support braille input on any 
platform.  The focus blue does, but not the 44.  When you upgrade, you should 
get the functionality, unless there is some bug in the focus blue support that 
I don't know about.  Focus displays are not well loved here.
