Why not use wintrans, the windows version of nfbtrans? It works fine with XP.

Pat,
You don't need the install.bat file. Assuming
you've unzipped the contents of the nfbtrans
file to a folder on your hard drive, just run
nfbtrans.exe. If you don't specify any
command-line arguments, then a console window
will open that asks you a series of questions to
accomplish what you want to do.
The other translators I mentioned are free,
though I haven't used Turbo Braille in many
years and have little experience with the xml2brl application.
An anonymous gentlemen wrote a Windows front-end
to nfbtrans called WinTrans some years back. His
website no longer exists, but you can download
the installer from
http://www.blind-computing.com/braille/programs/winbt.exe.
I've used it before, and it suits my occasional braille translation needs.

Hi! Wait, <smile>, I don't know what other
translater you are talking about. I have the
latest version of NFB Trans, however I can't
get it to even run under the install.bat. I'm
trying to install it under Windows Seven. lol.
Okay you mentioned something about Turbo Braille, where can I find it?
Do any of these work under Windows Seven? I
can't get NFB Trans to run at all. It doesn't
do anything when I hit enter on the install.bat file.
Any help is greatly appreciated, please.
Thanks.

Window-Eyes works just fine with nfbtrans.
Version 7.74, which dates back to 2002, is
the latest release of the software. I've used
Turbo Braille in the past, and an XML to
braille translator based on the open-source
liblouis libraries works well also. A quick
Google search for either application should
get you where you need in short order.

Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for a free braille translater that works well with Window-Eyes.
I need to know if NFB Trans works with
Window-Eyes. Also, where can I get the latest
version, please. The version I have was dated in 2002.
Also, what other free braille translator can
I get that would work with the latest Window-Eyes and Windows Seven.
Any help is greatly appreciated, please.
Thanks much.
