Hi Paul, when window eyes fails, it really fails; it doesn't have these relatively minor problems, so I don't think there's a real need to uninstall it. also, you probably don't need the emergency tool to do so; you can probably just go to the windows control panel, and uninstall it like any other software.
it sounds mostly like your function keys aren't working; with the one exception that it's not starting up at windows boot; however, a fair number of people have that issue, and there's no explanation for it, so again, I don't think uninstalling it is the answer. Can you test if your function keys are working? can you get into some app, notepad should do, and press f1 to see if help comes up? that should be an easy and reliable test. If they aren't working, maybe you could call for support on your laptop to see if there is a setting that lets the function keys do something else? or search on google for your particular model and "function keys"? hth, Chip -----Original Message----- From: Paul Franklin [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, August 08, 2010 1:54 PM To: List GW Micro Subject: Removal Tool Hi everyone: Can someone please tell me how to use the Window-Eyes emergency removal tool to remove a newly installed copy of W E 7.2 from a laptop running W7 64 bit? The clean installation of Window-Eyes seemed to go o k, but once installed W E does not seem to be fully functional and is exhibiting some strange behavior. For one thing, I can't make W E load on its own, I have to use the hot key to load it every time that I start the computer. When trying to access the manual from the W E control panel, pressing enter and f6 on a section does not open that section. Alt-F4 does not close programs. I am new to both W7 and W E 7.2 but this behavior seems to indicate that there is a problem with W E or with the new H P laptop. I guess that re installing Window-Eyes would be the logical first step to discover what the problem is. Thanks for any help that anyone can provide.
