Yes, I believe Word is sold by itself.

Unfortunately, I don't think 2007 is being sold any longer; I think you have
to buy 2010.

There is some good news for 2010; it has gone back to resembling 2003
somewhat, giving up some of the peculiarities of the ribbon (I am told). I
have not decided though if I think it works as well with WE as 2007 did.

Anyway, to answer your other question, the view Word opens with is the one
which is set in your normal.dot template (views are saved in templates and
documents).

so if you'll edit your normal.dot and set your view while in it to normal,
and save it, it will always open in that view.

I'm not sure I think this is a good idea, as I seem to recall there are
parts of your document you don't have access to (such as headers and footers
perhaps) while in normal view. Also, I think you don't work with columns as
columns.

hth,

Chip

Subject: word 2007 questions

Hello fellow Window-Eyes users:
The last time I talked about this on the list, it wasn't pretty. I got in a
lot of trouble with some of my fellow list members. I never thought I'd ever
ask this on the list, but where can I purchase a copy of word 2007? Is it
possible to buy (word 2007) itself, without having to buy the entire suite?
I mainly need word. I don't need excel, powerpoint, or any of the other
programs that come with the suite of software. Also, from previous
experience with earlier versions, I've noticed that once installed, when you
open word for the first time ever, it automatically defaults to the print
layout. Does word 2007 allow you to change the layout from print view, to
normal view? This is the layout I'd prefer to use, once I get word
installed. Thanks.
