Well, basically hardware considerations.

For most upper level apps, email, web browsing, etc this isn't a problem, but say you need to use.
low latency protocols llike asio or wdm for high end audio interfaces,
which talk more directly to the hardware,
you'll run in to trouble, same with video stuff.

So virtualization is good as far as it goes, but never as good as the real deal bit it has it's advantages.
