Keith,
One way of creating a simple journal is to use Notepad. You can read the topic
"Appending A Log To A Document" in Notepad Help to see how it is done.
Basically, you just open a new file in Notepad and type a period followed by
LOG in uppercase letters and press Enter. Save the file under something like
Keith's Journal.txt. Each time you open the file, the date and time is
automatically entered, and you can just type your entry underneath. Then save
the file.

I can't think of a way to password protect a text file, but there's probably a
third-party utility that will do the job. I thought about hiding the file, but
someone could just change the folder settings and unhide it again. Perhaps you
could just bury it in an obscure folder with a mysterious name.

  Subject: Journaling or diary programs

I am looking for an accessible journaling or diary program that will allow me
to find dates or key word searches, so I don't have to remember the exact date
if I wish to reread a passage. I would also like to have the option of
passwording the files and having the date entered automatically, but that is
not the highest priority. My computer can tell me the date and time if I
really need it.

  Thanks
