Martha,
Or better yet I suggest you just install the WordAccent script. You can
download it and read how to use it from the following URL:
www.gwmicro.com/scripts/wordaccent
This makes it very easy to insert accented characters. As for the
document only mentioning JAWS, the best way to help is to educate the
author. Unless they hear from the Window-Eyes users they have no
incentive to address them. Sing loud and clear <smile>.

Doug

For inserting special characters, you need to turn the numpad on and
press alt plus the numbers which represent the special character. For
example, using this method with alt plus ยช161 would generate what
Window-Eyes calls an upside-down exclamation point. Since I do not
know the numbers of these characters, I can only play around until I
find something. useful. If you have the proper code numbers, it is
very simple. Take care when playing around, though, as some of these
will play around with your project, such as backspace or inserting a
control plus left arrow or linefeed or any number of other commands,
instead of symbols.

I recently got a booklet instructing how to insert accents and
symbols into a document. But I was a bit disappointed that
Window-Eyes wasn't mentioned. I wish these Authors would realize
that not everyone uses JAWS. If an Author doesn't wish or can't
accommodate Window-Eyes or other program users, then they should
indicate in their introductions that such a booklet is written for
"JAWS users only."
I may be putting my nose where it doesn't belong, but there are times
when I need to insert special characters/symbols/accents into a
document, and have to ask for sighted assistance.
Any thoughts?
