Is that one still around? I have a friend who has one and really likes
it. But as far as I know, it is USB only, and is a display only, and
does not have any kind of keyboard.

thank you for getting back to me and making that suggestion. That
sounds very good and worth looking into but I think in this particular
case we might need a few more cells if possible because this will be
going to a college student who will be using Braille with Windows for
the first time. She is a proficient braille reader and who is a past
user of the BrailleNote BT18. do you have any other suggestions? I
am
looking for a model that will work with Window-eyes 7.2 and provide
between 20 to 32 cells, 8 input keys, panning keys, routing keys,
grade
2 input and allow one to control the laptop PC via bluetooth/USB
connectivity, with hot keys. The grade 2 requirement, (which I was
particuarly remiss to mention before) is an important option because
the
client I am working with does not know computer braille and will
transition more easily with the ability to input in grade 2. I said
I'm
looking for a model under $4000 but I meant around $3000 or under.
I've
seen the Seika 4 but no input keys, and I have seen the Focus 40 blue,
which has everything we are looking for but works best with JAWS, but
I
heard it's not working the way I would like with Window-Eyes because
of
some driver issues that I'm not sure about. The Braille connect 24
with
bluetooth looked good but it's very expensive and the space bar design
and feel is not desirable. do you or anyone have Any more
ideas/suggestions on specific models that work with Window-Eyes.

Carlos,
I don't know of any units that fit all of your requirements. If you
can
compromise on 18 cells, the APH Refreshabraille is worth considering.
It's very small, has an 8-dot keyboard, cursor routing buttons, and
supports USB and Bluetooth connections. I've been able to fit the
thing
into a netbook case with room to spare. You should be able to stowe it
very well with your laptop. The unit sells for $1700.
