Kevin,
Reading the latest article posted yesterday on Blind Bargains about Blio
gives the impression that one problem with accessibility is the result of
lack of support for "Windows Presentation Foundation" display technology by
major screen readers. All of the demos I heard have been with JAWS for
Windows, but since those doing demos don't usually show what doesn't work,
it's not clear if JAWS has more WPF support than does Window-Eyes. Perhaps
the GW-Micro staff would like to comment on the current level of WPF support
in Window-Eyes and when it will be fully supported. Until that support is
added, Window-Eyes users may not get much reading done with the Blio eReader
even if K-NFB Reading Technology does release a version that is accessible
with other screen readers this month.

Hi Gary:
I know that James Gashel did a demonstration at CSUN of the Blio
Reader with JAWS, so I know it exists. I am surprised that they don't
have an accessible version up yet. By the way, that interview with
James Gashel and the demonstration of Blio with JAWS is in the Audio
section of blindbargains.com.

It looks like K-NFB Reading Technology, the joint venture between

as well. They weren't able to give us a fully accessible version of the
Blio eReader with the initial release. It will be interesting to see if
they can get the accessible version out in October as promised.

Hi Olusegun,
Thank you. Microsoft is definitely trying to raise the bar, and I
think
their example will help increase awareness for other companies as well as
to
help establish a path of success with accessibility, so that other
companies
can follow in their footsteps.

Hi Jerry and GW Micro staff:
Way to go! Wish more companies will get onboard particularly companies
like Intuit developers of Quicken and Quickbooks products, Sage
developers
of Peachtree and other accounting products, PC America developers of the
Cash Register Express Point-of-Sale software, and many others. Keep up
the
good work!
Sincerely,
Olusegun
