Hi Manny and Everyone,
Well, here is what I've been doing.
I find that Window-Eyes crashes mostly in Windows Explorer, however,
yesterday it crashed in Notepad. I had three windows open, when it
crashed, and I was on the phone with someone, and we were working
with the Mailman program on our site.
I did have Windows Explorer open, NotePad, and Internet Explorer.
lol. I guess one of them exploaded. lol.
I can usually tell when Window-Eyes is the cause, as if I can get
speech back, by doing the following items:
1. I redraw the screen with Incert-Backslash.
2. I do a control-backslash to put me in the Window-Eyes.
3. I do an alt-F and Enter, to close down Window-Eyes.
4. Then, I do a control-alt-W to load Window-Eyes again.
Sometimes when I do that, what I just mentioned above, I hear
something like this:
Screen is redrawn. Window-Eyes is already running.
Usually this works, but sometimes it doesn't.
If I can shut down my computer the proper way, I can assume that the
computer isn't locked up, and that I can't get speech back for some
strange reason, especially when I hear it ding. lol.
But in the case of yesterday, I did have to reboot, so I'm not sure
what was the cause of my lockup, and I can't blame Window-Eyes for
that one. <smile> lol.
One night, I got to my computer after it had done a scan with Vipre,
and I realized I had no speech, so I tried all of the above, and
nothing happened, so that time, I just shut down my computer
properly. I think this was on Wednesday evening.
I let my computer do a full scan on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
I always send an error report, when I see that come up on the screen,
and I usually try to explain what I was doing when the problem occured. <smile>
Window-Eyes is, and always will be loving. lol.
Thanks, GW Micro for the excellent screen reader, and I know you are
doing your absolute best to solve these problems. <smile>
Blessings,
Pat Ferguson

Aloha,
I'd like to share some info, which I have posted before, but is
worth repeating, with regards to losing sound.
Firstly, with regards to the ding sound which is generated by the
windows operating system.
I some times lose sound after hearing the ding sound.
This happens in explorer, Firefox, internet explorer, wordpad, notepad.
My solution:
I unplug the usb connection for my headset, and WE7.2 starts
speaking via my external speakers. I then replug my usb headset and
everything is back to normal.
In this case, windows lost sound to my headset, which is a known bug
to all windows operating systems.
Now, another known bug for all windows operating systems is that
keyboard stops functioning.
I use a wireless keyboard, and when I lose sound, I hit windows key
on my usb keyboard and sometimes my sound is back.
In this case, my wireless keyboard stopped functioning.
Now, sometimes the usb keyboard is not responding either.
In this case, I unplug the usb keyboard and wait for a ding sound,
and then I replug the usb keyboard, and this sometimes does the
trick, and keyboard is working again.
However, sometimes the lost of sound is caused by a WE7.2 crash.
In this case, I use a batch file to unload all three gwmicro
programs, and restart WE7.2, and I am back to normal.
However, sometimes after restarting WE7.2 after closing it using the
batch file, nothing works on the keyboard, except control alt
delete, and nothing in that menu works except shutdown, which is the
icon on the lower right.
Good luck to all.
Aloha,
Manny
