Shannon, the reason every phone's a smart phone is because traditional
analog phones don't have any speech. However, if you wanted to, you could
get a Nokia phone like I have and just tell them to disable the data issues.
I have the Nokia 6682, which is the only phone that Rogers gives out to
their blind customers up here in Canada. I like it because not only can I
text, but the Nokia phones especially let you record your own ringtones
rather than downloading them off the internet. My only complaint is that it
uses Eloquence. I wish it could use a more natural sounding voice like
Realspeak. And while I'm talking about speech engines, that's the whole
reason I prefer System Access over WE, they are more "loving" when it comes
to different speech engines they have to offer. I hate robotic voices. It'll
be interesting to see if GW gives out better TTS engines with 8.0 because
Jaws and, like I said, SA already offers real sounding voices.
