That strikes me as an awfully inefficient way to keep your check book.
Money Talks is very inexpensive, and works extremely well. No sense in
re-inventing the wheel if you don't have to.

If you do know, how to operate a spreadsheet, like Microsoft Excel - I
would
suggest trying to do your personal checkbook in a spreadsheet. It is a
bit
of setup, as you have to do all the formulars, but first it's there, you
save it as a standard, and just start to fill it in. Of course, if you
are
looking for more advanced functionality, this won't do. And neither if
there
is a bit of a threshold in knowing how to operate Excel. But, if it is
only
for private use, and you want to have full control of your accounts, and
spendings, this is an affordable way of doing it.

Jody,
I find Money Talks, from American Printing House for the Blind, APH, to
be
very useful. It's self voicing and has a lot of useful features. Works
perfectly find for personal use and works well enough for small business
use, I suspect. Check it out at
www.aph.org
Click on "APH Software", then, "Money Talks, manage your accounts:".
It can be used with your screen reader, and/or, wwith the self voicing
feature. I opted to purchase the disk copy for about $10 more at the
time in order to have the higher quality Mike AT&T voice rathern than
the
default Microsoft Sam voice, which is used for self voicing when you
purchase the non-disk version. There is a demo you can try which has, I
think, a limit of 25 transactions per account, so you can test it.
