Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work. The add to cart still shows up as just the text. I know it works for others because you can watch the percentage of the deals gone rise as time goes by and because the gold box forum at the bottom of the page would explode if people were not able to get any of the deals on the page. Have no idea what is going on at this point.

Thanks,

Chris

This is where Firefox comes to the rescue. When you encounter sites that seem to be terribly coded, go to the View menu and select Page Style then select No Style. This strips out all that crap and you can easily find the links you need.

Subject: Amazon lightning deals inaccessible

Has anyone tried to buy one of Amazon's lightning deals lately? For those that haven't encountered these, they are one hour specials that Amazon runs every day and can be found by following the link at the top of the page labelled 'Today's Deals'. They are below the Gold Box deal of the day and above the personal Gold Box specials of the day. I've taken advantage of some of these deals in the past, but when I tried to buy a flash drive that was on sale a couple of days ago, the add to cart link was nothing but text. I tried going to the item's page and instead of the add to cart button, there was just a link to go to the deals page. I tried adding the item to my wish list and then adding to my cart. This worked, but the deal price wasn't given on the checkout page.

I emailled Amazon, and they offered to give me a "one time exception" to take advantage of the deal, if my order qualified. I didn't like the vague wording on that, so didn't bother. They seemed to miss my point, which was that without a working link or button, blind users can't take advantage of any of the deals and something needs to be done to change this. In the days since, I have checked the deals page. I can add the Gold Box deal of the day to my cart, and I can take advantage of my personal Gold box specials, all without any difficulty and all listed on the same page as the lightning deals. But the lightning deals still show the item and all of its info and all of the teasers for upcoming lightning deals. All of the links work just as usual except the one for adding the item to the cart.

I thought the issue might be a Firefox problem, so tried using IE 8, and ran into the exact same issue, so that theory went out the window. I am using the latest Firefox and IE 8 as previously stated, I am using the latest WE including the recent mini update. I use XP SP 3 and keep everything up to date. I don't know what the deal is or when the change was made, I think the last time I jumped on a lightning deal was early summer or maybe even late spring, so it has been months. Anyone out there still able to add these items to cart? If so, then it might still be an issue with my setup, if not, Amazon needs to get on fixing this problem.

Regards,

Chris
