The Focus has either 40 or 80 cells. I have the APH RefreshaBraille and
like it very much. it does have only 18 cells, and may be frustrating
for a fast Braille reader, which I am not, so it works well for me. I
love the small size, and can toss it and my netbook into my briefcase
and go.

I'm very interested in this topic.

What size of braille display are you guys mostly talking about?

Vaughan, could you tell us more about the displays you have seen or
used?

One I've been looking at is from American Printing House. I believe it
has
18-cells, which may not be great for everyday computing, but it just may
fit
all my portable needs. Oh and it is rather affordable at $1700.

Look forward to this topic continuing,
Traci

The Focus works well with WE, but you get what you pay for. I have had
a recurring problem with cells going bad. I really like the many
features of the Focus, but would not buy another one.

Subject: Focus blue braille display

Hello all,

I am interested in purchasing a braille display and have been looking at

the focus blue by freedom scientific. why? because it's affordable, as
far as displays go. I'm wondering if anyone has had luck with it and
window-eyes? It would be great to write in grade two braille but I'm not

sure if there is a translation table. To upgrade the version of jfw that

I do have would be too costly on top of the braille display's price.

If there is something comprable, I'm open to suggestions but I really
haven't found much that's at least a grand or two more than FS is
asking. I've been a diehard WE user since v2.0 and I don't really want
to learn jfw just to use a braille display. So, any help and/or advice
is welcome on this topic.

thanks,
