Sometimes on a laptop the NUM LOCK keycombination causes the imbedded numeric
pad to produce numbers instead of navigation keys. Pressing the
FN key and holding it down like a shift key while pressing the numeric pad keys
will sometimes yield navigation keys. If you want to lock the imbedded
numeric pad on, sometimes pressing SHIFT with the NUM LOCK key combination will
toggle between numbers and navigation keys without turning the
imbedded numeric pad off. Generally, though, I find it easier to just use the
FN key approach. I know that CONTROL-FN-I will read the current line. When
I need to move the mouse pointer around, I just hold down the FN key with my
left hand and press the desired keys with my right hand. If this isn't what
you
are asking, let us know.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson
