Make sure your PC isn't going into a foreign language mode. If extra keyboards have been installed, you can have trouble at times because, for example, right-control, right-shift might put you into a right-to-left language such as Hebrew. Getting the keyboard mode back to English, US, may cause Windows to say "layout changed".
