Goldwave has a very primitive FFT-based noise reduction feature. To be
frank, the resulting audio is often much worse than the original. If you
can swing it, get either the Sony Noise Reduction suite, or even better,
the iZotope RX tools. Both sets of plugins will do a much better job at
audio restoration than Goldwave's built-in algorithm, and they should
even work reasonably well in Goldwave since it supports DirectX-based
effects.
