Hi Don,

it's alt-S; however, if the device isn't working, or isn't enabled, then the
"set as default" command button will be disabled.
one thing I do, to keep this from happening to me, is to disable all other
devices other than the one I'm using; that way, as I said above, you aren't
given the opportunity to set the wrong device as the default. You need to
have the option "show disabled devices" enabled though, so you can then
re-enable these when you need to.

FYI, I also wanted to mention you can set a device as the default, and
enable or disable it, by right clicking it and using the context menu which
comes up. this menu also has choices for showing you disabled devices.

hth,

Chip

Subject: Win7 Control panel, sound, default device

Hi,

Can someone please look in the control panel, sound in win 7 and tell me
what the hot key is for the make default button.

In noodling around and trying to make Windows Media Center use my main sound
card which feeds my stereo I managed choose the wrong device and now have a
very quiet pc.

I am pretty sure I can get to the list of sound cards and I know that the
one I want is three of three but I can't seem to find the make default
button.

If the button does not have an underlined letter for hot keying, perhaps you
could tell me how many tabs.

Or I can wait till that cute girl gets home from work and get some sighted
assistance, but that would leave me with lots of non productive time!

Thanks!
