I also have the same problem while replying to messages in Thunderbird.
The only
work-around I have found there is to:
before writing, I first press enter
next, I arrow up to the previous line
So far, this has allowed me to arrow through my reply so I can read or
edit the message.
I have not had this problem with Word, but it might possibly work.
I am now running Thunderbird 3.1.7, but it was happening in the previous
3.07 and
3.011, which I upgraded to when I installed the beta. My system is a
Dell desktop
running WE 7 beta and Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit.

Hey everybody.
On occasion, I experience something strange with Word. While in a
document, I can
have certain text read with the arrow keys like control+Right arrow, but
the problem
is that as I
Can’t identify where I am in reference to a word by using the left and
right arrows.
It’s really strange. When I use them, the speech just says space, space,
space, etc.
I can also read lines of text, but still can’t ID where I am in
reference to the
word on that line.
Also, using the mouse keys does seem to work, but not the arrows.
Identifying the
fonts appears to be not rightly recognized as well.
Does anyone have a clue to what’s going on. It’s been hard for me to
identify exactly
any specific situations when this occurs.
Much thanks,
Andre
