Hi Everyone,
I will be so very glad when this discussion is finished about "We all
don't use Twitter".
I'm not against Twitter at all, in fact I'll probably get an account. <smile>
I'm not blaming Aaron or anyone from GW Micro, I just wish people
would end this disgussion, I'm tired of it. <smile>
Thanks.

And the logical counterpoint to exactly what you say here is that the vast
majority of beginners, new users, and potential Window-Eyes users are going
to subscribe to this list to get a feel for both Window-Eyes and GW-Micro.
This is a support list and will give anyone a practical feel for the company
and its product. And that feeling isn't going to be a good one for a
beginner or someone considering switching over to Window-Eyes when they see
endless messages in a thread like this one wherein some folks state
reasonable arguments while others are hurling childish retorts, not to
mention that users can't simply have a one stop shopping source for
information on such a critical product. I don't have anything against
Twitter. But I do believe that selective sprinkling of product information
amid multiple resources doesn't create a dependable source of information
for users. After all, there was life before Twitter.
I fully understand that every minute is valuable time for everyone at GW.
And it is with that in mind that I point out that this thread has been going
on for half a day so far. Obviously people want to know if a service pack
should be installed. How much more time has Aaron spent on this thread than
he would have putting a one-liner post on this list?
Regards,
Tom

Twitter is for short sentence types of updates. This list
allows for prolonged detailed discussion.
It also allows for detailed discussion of problems, suggestions
interactively exchanged from both gw and other users.
Finally this list was established way prior to twittermany people
for whatever reason are more familiar with it so important
information can easily be exchanged with all levels of window-eyes
proficient and computer proficient users.
Because twitter or facebook posts don't require as much writing
they can be rapidly generated a message like
"windows service pk 1 works great with window-eyes." than you just hit send.
No going through all the extra steps to put together an email.
You can do it on your mobile phone quickly like texting.
So, both the gw list and social networking are great and used for
different reasons which may at times overlap.

Well, then, why bother with this list. It must cost money to maintain it.

Interesting. One could get a twitter account, protect ones feeds and
only follow a few things. In this way your not involved in the "social
networking" but you are still being kept up to date.
Clients such as qwitter make twitter easy to maintain. You read the
tweets you want to.

"That's just how it works."
That was unwarranted. Many people may enjpy taking
advantage of all
there is out there but many also do not wish to be part of the
mad rush to
participate in this social networking business. Just because
Joe Blow does
it, does that mean everyone else must, or lose out?

If you don't use Twitter, that's fine. No one expects you to. But you
also lose out on the information being presented through our Twitter
feeds. That's just how it works. If you don't use it, you don't get the
information. As I mentioned, if something is really important, we post
to all of our lists. This was not that important.

Come on, Aaron. It only takes a second to send your tweet to the list.
I am another who doesn't want to mess with Twitter and I don't want
the RSS feed either. We're not all into social networking.
