Apprently its not carved in stone that Windows Mail is absoiutely responsible for failed SP1 installs. All is well once SP 1 is installed and WM is working just fine too. The only disappointment is that SP1 did not address the many minor annoyances such as focus issues.

I had intended to install Windows Mail on my Windows 7 64-bit system, but now I'm glad I didn't get around to it. Now that I have SP1 installed, I guess I can go ahead with the installation.

If you installed Windows Mail, this will happen. The fiz then is to reinstall the original files that came with Windows 7 such as the msoe.dll file. I ended up doing an Inplace Upgrade before SP1 was finally installed.

I tried to install service pack 1 with the following results:
Installation status failed.
Error details: code 80004005
I downloaded the service pack from Microsoft and still had the same results. Anyone know how to get it to install? If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original sender only.
