Dane,

The Asus Update in my experience is at least sort of accessible. I have to
look around with mouse keys some and click to get focus. I must say, though,
that I have not done much with it, though. I found the registration program to
not be accessible, which was truly ironic, since it seemed to mostly get me to
a
web site that was completely accessible. There is another program called EE
Docking or something like that which does not appear to be accessible or
maybe I don't know what to expect from it. I thought it might have to do with
docking stations and disabled it, but it apparently handles connecting and
disconnecting many devices and disabling it caused me a ton of trouble. There
is also a "Super Hybrid Power Engine" or something like that which appears
not to be accessible that adjusts performance characteristics for specific
kinds of uses using the FN key and the SPACE bar. It could be one can do more
with this utility than I have, but it seems as though it just adjusts settings
that you can get at from the Power Management settings.

Another hassle is that if you want to install larger memory, you have to turn
something called "Boot Booster" off and this can only be done from a BIOS-Like
setup screen. There are other options there, too, such as backing up the
recovery partition to a 16GB flash drive, and of course these are not
accessible.
Unfortunately, I don't know that there is a netbook that doesn't have some
utilities that are not accessible. Also, I have not explored the ASUS site to
see if
there is any way around this. However, it appears to me that there update
procedure works all right and I guess that was the original question.

One more thing I wasted a lot of time on is language setting. When I had to do
a recover, I apparently accidently or by default chose German as the
language. Well, I understand a little German so no problem, right? I just
figured I'd get through the setup process and change the language back to
English. I spent a good bit of time trying to change the language, comparing
different Windows 7 machines and such, only to find out that you cannot
change the language after it has been selected on Windows Starter. Other than
that, I really have not had any complaints about Windows Starter, though,
and that one was my fault.

I know you are the sort of person who does a good job of investigating. Please
let me know if you happen to find out anything that might be of interest.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson
