Correction: I stated in my initial message that I have turned on all scripts.
That
should of course be, I have tried turning OFF all scripts in WE, to no avail.
Just
that you might not ask me to try doing so, since it already has been tested.
Thanks again,

Subject: Braille display is driving me crazy!

I have WE7.2Refresh installed, under Windows XP Pro, with all updates.
Attached is a PowerBraille 81cells Braille display. It is running on an
USB-serial converter, since my laptop does have no serial, nor any parallel
port itself. The problem here to be described, happens in Outlook Express, Word
XP, and even in Notepad. And YES, I have tried turning on absolutely all
scripts in WE, to no avail.

If I open a document, be it in any of the software tested, and mentioned
above, I can read the whole document with no problem. I can scroll my display
up and down, to my heart's full desire. The lines change perfectly, and I
experience no problem.

Now, if I want to edit a text, or even if I am starting out on a blank
document, writing from scratch, the problem starts. The first few lines, my
Braille display keeps up fine enough. OK, I am a driven writer, having been
using typewriters and computers since the mid 70s. But my display keeps up,
with my pace well enough.

After some lines, and particularly in the case I have to go back and edit
some of my writings, the display slows down. Firstly it is just getting a bit
slow. But as I keep on typing, it slows down to a speed, that would make even
the slowest ant, the hero of the Olympic games. I actually am not joking at
all. It would maybe move one or two characters a second. Imagine then, when you
have written a whole paragraph, and put your hands on the display, and you
literally can sit there and feel how the display gets updated every character,
as the seconds on your watch moves on. Alt-tabbing away from the screen, and
back again, does have no effect. Funny thing is, that Eloquence keeps up with
the actual spot on which I am. So, if I want to have him sit and chatter in my
ears while writing, I will have no delay in my editing and writing of the
document. But my Braille display is of little help in such cases.

I have tried I have tried reloading WE, no help. I tried turning off the
display, then turning it back on, and it did seem to solve the problem in a few
cases, but not always.

Yesterday, I even experienced the case, in an edit box on a web page.

Again, it never happens when just reading the screen, only when typing or
editing text.

Anyone would happen to have a clue, as to what is going on? Is there a
setting I need to adjust, somewhere in Windows itself, or even in Win-Eyes?
Really hope for a solution here, as this thing is driving all my gray hairs
out. :)

  Thanks for any input!
