I have had a problem arising recently. Whenever I go to the update page of
Microsoft:
    update.microsoft.com
And ask the system to find the 'high priority' updates for my computer, it so
does. It scans my system, and returns a webpage, saying that there is one or
two high priority updates. I then click install-button, and it gives me a new
page, where it tells me how much time it will take to download and stuff. Only,
it SAYS, THE UPDATES ARE DOWNLOADED ALREADY, AND READY TO BE INSTALLED. sO, i
CLICK INSTALL. a NEW SCREEN COMES UP, TELLING ME THE INSTALLATION IS BEING
INITIALIZED. tHIS STAYS ON FOR ABOUT 12 SECONDS, THEN COMES A SCREEN, TELLING
ME THAT THE UPDATES i HAD CHOOSEN (THAT IS ALL OF THE UPDATES AVAILABLE AS HIGH
PRIORITY), COULD NOT BE INSTALLED, AND A CLOSE BUTTON.

I Did think, this could be due to some setting in my firewall, so I turned it
off, for the moment. Same goes with SuperAntiSpyware, which I turned off. The
only security software, that is running, and which I can't seem to turn off in
any way that I know of, is Microsoft's security essential. Still, the same
behavior.

To me, this seems to be a corrupt downladed update, of some kind. Is there
anywhere on the system, where Windows storees downloaded, but not yet
installed, updates? Maybe if I could have deleted the download, or in any other
way have forced Windows to redownload the updates, things would have worked
out.

Any Ideas, all of your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Running Windows XP Pro, and until recently, all updates installed.
