This has happened to me many times on both my Xp desktop machine and my
windows seven laptop. Sometimes I can use the Kurzweil 1000 program to turn
off the computer, but not all of the time. Then I'm forced to do a hard shut
down. The Xp machine is forgiving to that. The windows seven laptop is not.
Twice now I had to send it back to office depot to have them fix it after I
had to shut it down that way.

Subject: major issue with we and windows 7

Anyone ever had their system just quit speaking?
It forces you to do a hard shut down. I've had this happen twice now, the
system restore screen comes up and wants to restore your system. It's
virtually useless at that point cause there is no speech. Anyone know of a
way to get around this?
