Frederick,
Both of the antivirus packages you mentioned include in-browser script
execution watchers. From our experience, these cause more problems than
they solve. If you disable this feature or if you can tell it to ignore
Firefox and even Window-Eyes, things should improve.

Steve

Steve, thanks for the quick response.
It is not this page specifically. When I spend a few minutes clicking on
articles and blog entries, it will hang within 5 minutes or so. It's firefox
3.6.1 with no add ons and MacAfee anti virus. This particular website is the
worst, but it does happen on other websites. It also happens on the other
laptops with the same version of firefox and different anti virus packages --
one has Symantec and the other has Norton. In all cases I have to go to Task
Manager to end the task.
Ok, just tried a link on this site and it froze up firefox with java script enabled. The
link was "Five Flyers Who Need To Step Up In Chris Pronger's Absence".
Thanks.

Frederick,
I just tried this and was able to read the page in Firefox. Which version of
Firefox are you using? More importantly, what addons, toolbars, and antivirus
are on the machine?

Steve

Hi all:
I have a problem on certain websites in firefox with java script enabled.
Here's an example website:
http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/flyers/
If I start browsing the content on this site (and others as well), it will hang
after just a few minutes with java script enabled but be fine without java
script enabled. It's to the point where I just automatically disable java
script when I go to certain sites, but this obviously disables good content on
the site as well. The problem was actually occuring with 7.2, but was waiting
to see if 7.5 corrected the issue. It happens on 2 different Dell laptops I
have as well as a new Dell netbook. The issue also occurs with IE 8, but not
nearly as much -- haven't tried IE 9 yet.
Any help or advice is appreciated.
Thanks.
