don't do it. backup your drive and create a restore point first. before
installing i e 9.
i had to go back to i e 8
i e 9 kept crashing, takeing up to a minute to load some web pages this is with
broadband. not dial up.
it alters the windows mail view when composeing messages and win eyes could not
read any of the text i typed in the body of the message.
its like the days of windows 98.
when you change the colors in i e it also changes the colors of the message
composition window. just like it use to do with windows 98.
but it is doing this with vista 32 bit.
when i uninstalled i e 9 windows mail now works like it use to do.

  Jim,

I've been using ie8 on my xp/sp3 computer ever since it came out without a
problem. I've been very pleased with the stability of 7.5, but I haven't
tried ie9 yet on my Windows7 machines.

That's not just Chip's opinion. I've been running WE 7.5 since the beta was
first released. The only problem I had was with IE 8 which went away as
soon as I backed up to IE 6. That tells me that the problem was IE 8 not
  WE7.5.

I don't know what you're running on your system but from the array of the
complaints you have that there some things which are definitely conflicted.

I don't believe that complaining about the beta cycle will solve your
problems either but my experience in the past has been that working with the
WE tech guys led to a satisfactory solution of my problems in the past. I
wish to also note that the majority of those past problems were due to my
  errors not the WE program.

As I have not experienced any of your issues and am also running XP Pro
SP3using DEC Access i can't offer you any help.

  Jim

thats your opinion. my w e 7.2 worked far better then the 7.5 does. gw
released it before its time as far as i am concerned. they should of beta
tested it longer. most of the earlier versions of w e had 3 to 5 betas
  before they released them.
try useing alt tab to open the w e control panel instead of control
  backslash.
most of the time another set file will open and say it is associated. even
though i don't have any othere program running in the background.
with windows mail it says budget.set is associated. the next time it will
say default.set is associated. which witch is which?
when i press control backslash it says msoe.set is associated.
when i press control home to go to the top of a document in notepad or in
windows mail it will read the first line twice.
for windows mail w e will read the message twice after i open the message
and tab to the body of the message. browse mode is off when useing text only
  mode.
half the time i open notepad on a text file w e stops talking. i have to
close notepad and re open it before the text in the file will read.
sometimes it taks 2 reloads before w e will talk.
when i use a internet search program called web ferret w e will speak the
search box and list view of web pages 3 times every time i have to tab
between these two fields. turning off speak windows use to work. but not
  anymore.
sometimes i lose speech while in the w e control panel. at this point
nothing in the options menus will speak. i can escape out of it. tab to the
desktop and none of the icons will speak either. redrawing the screen does
not fix this problem. i have to reload w e 7.5 but so far it has not
generated any error report that i can send to gw. so nothing can be done
  about the problems.
maybe when i get my full install disk and can start from scratch these
problems will be fixed. only time will tell.

    Hi Les,

In addition to Jim's comments, there's being able to use applications
which are written using UIA (such as Office 2010, VS 2010, and IE9 just to
name a few for now). It's also much more stable, with many fewer memory
leaks and crashes, than 7.2. It also has various scripting enhancements
such that you'll find, apps on app central are now being created which will
only run on 7.5 and later (I believe the WinAmp app is like this).

And of course, in the past, GW continued to offer a series of free
upgrades after a major paid upgrade, which added more capabilities, and will
only be available to those who move to 7.5.

    hth,

    Chip
