I finally got round to installing the latest version of WE on my desktop running XP, last night. GWMicro have managed to produce another update that installed smoothly and gave me no issues with settings afterwards. I liked the new wizard that popped up taking me through various setup options and allowing me to keep my previous settings.

The new interface is great and I'm sure new users will find it easier to use. Particularly the change to making changes global unless otherwise specified.

I'd be interested to know the thinking behind putting certain things in the top menu versus putting them in the settings dialogue, EG why put the help there rather than making it the last item in the list. It took me a few minutes to realise the top menu was there and that it contained controls related to Apps.

Speaking of Apps, I'm a little confused about the name change. As I understood it, scripts were meant to either give access to an existing program that didn't have it, or to improve/modify access. We got a lot of fantastic scripts, Winamp and the Change Soundcard ones just to name two. Apps are programs in their own right. I'm not a programmer so my definitions maybe slightly off here, but it feels to me as if we've now got into a bit of a muddle over what WE Apps are.

One final point. Unfortunately WE still isn't able to access the flash on the ITV web site:

http://www.itv.com/coronationstreet/videos/backstage/sallysdivorce/

the fact there is flash is being picked up but no buttons are being shown. I guess this is a problem with ITV rather than WE.

I'm pretty happy and its good to see a company who concentrate on retaining stability over flashy new gimmicks. After all the point of a Screenreader is to give us access to a computer and WE has always given excellent service in this respect.
