Hi, if a reclass torks stuff up, there are 2 ways to fix it.

The first way is easy, especially if there are already factory sets and if you have not made many changes to the particular one. We also support this since it doesn't require any manual editing by the user. The steps follow.

1. Press control-\ to open the WE panel.

2. Press alt-f, f to open the factory sets dialog.

3. When the list comes up, arrow to Windows Explorer.

4. Press alt-i to install the sets. Answer yes and replace to any of the questions. Note that this will install the factory sets for Windows Explorer and undo any customizations you have made to the sets.

5. When you are returned to the list, press escape a couple of times and re-open any explorer folders you might have open and things should work fine.

The second method is something you might do if there are no factory sets to replace, or if you have made a lot of customizations and you don't want to get rid of them all. This requires being comfortable with editing a .we file with a text editor such as notepad. Also, we don't support this directly. So use at your own risk. Steps follow.

1. Press control-\ to open the WE panel.

2. Press alt-f, e to open the sets and apps folder.

3. To better find the recently updated .we file, from the view menu of this folder, sort by date modified.

4. According to your message it was the sets for explorer. So look for explorer.we and press Enter.

5. Windows will most likely tell you that it needs to find a program to open this .we file with. Choose notepad.

6. Once the file has been opened, arrow down to a line which contains the word reclass. It may look like the below.

[Reclass on Create]
DirectUIHWND=list view

7. You will want to remove both the [Reclass on Create] line as well as the line before it.

8. Save the file and exit notepad.

9. Re-open any explorer windows or restart Window-Eyes and now things will work better.

Of course there is a catch 22 with your situation in that if Explorer is messed up, you may not be able to easily find the explorer.we file. So in this case it may be better to just reinstall the factory sets. However the second, manual method of fixing a reclass problem will apply to any program where you might reclass to something with undesirable effects. Please note that making any manual changes to this file is not supported and if you call us for support because of manually editing this file, we will most likely have you start from scratch.

Many thanks.

I am using Win7 64-bit with WE 7.5. This morning when I opened Winamp, I
received an update window which did absolutely nothing except say custom
control. I tried to reclass it and at some point, I lost focus and
somehow ended up in my Carol folder. Now, I can't get my arrows to read
the file names. When I arrow down, WE speaks the information aboutthe
file such as date created and size. How do I reclass the window back to
its normal state? This appears to be an issue with all Windows Explorer
windows. Help. Thanks.
