Okay, here are some answers to some of the questions I have received. No, the problem is not the search box when I press the Windows key. However, when I press the Windows key and open all programs, I can freely jump around in that list of files (programs) by typing in the first letter of any program and get to the wanted program. I can also go to the desktop and press any letter to reach a desired program.

What I cannot do is open any Windows Explorer window, such as Computer, any folders on the desktop, my user folder, tc., that has the Windows Explorer title bar and successfully jump to anything by pressing a corresponding letter. I can arrow up, down, left or right and use page up or page down, but if I press any letter, there is a search box which opens with the first letter I type.

I will see if I can give a short description of the different ways I have just explained.

Start Menu:
the standard search box opens nrmally and I can type into the box and get back search results.

All Programs:
I can arrow through the choices or, for example, be at the top of the list and press K and be taken to the Kurzweil pull down. I then Press M and am taken to Mozilla Firefox. Again, these are normal actions.

Windows Explorer:
I press Windows E and open Computer. I can arrow through all of the drives with no problem. If I want local drive F, I press F and a search box opens. I press escape and I am at the os drive C. I arrow down to drive F and press enter. I press b for books and the search box opens. I press escape until the search box is gone and I am at the top of the list. I arrow down to books and then I press m for music and the search box opens again. I press escape until the box is gone and my cursor is still on the books folder. . I have over a hundred files and folders in my user folder, and it is pretty difficult to find the one I want when I have to arrow through the choices instead of jumping with the first letter. I hope this is more clear. Thank you.

Carol
