Normally, all you need to do is make sure nothing is selected to perform
most tasks which require a blank desktop area. To do this, simply press
control-space to deselect all items. If, however, this is not exactly
what is needed, try moving your mouse pointer to the top right corner of
the screen and clicking your mouse key.
