Is CDEX in need of updating? Judst because its not been updated for a while means nothing if it does the job. I too have several apps that have long since been out of development but they still work even under Windows 7. The latest and greatest does not always work so well thuis I am not in a rush to go that way. Case in point, Firefcx 4 and IE 9.

Well that's just it though, the latest version has been that for a good long time because the project isn't updated. However, I'm not saying to abandon cdex, just that there are faster converters out there. I'm not one to talk about using old software, have a few programs that aren't updated and have had them for 6 or so years and use them on a daily basis. So please don't think I'm knocking the project in any way, it's a great program, just won't be updated as tech and operating systems change.

not saying you have issues with it, just think it's slow because it
uses the laim codec and is a dead project and therefore can't be
updated.

because cdex is slow. dbpoweramp, a quadcore, and the mp3 helix codec,
runs like a hot rod lincoln, insert song from 1949 here.

Houdy,

Roflol! Actually there's no such thing as unripping. The apt word
here is
converting. When I saw this I was like what tha, then once I read
the
message I understood. If you are going to make an audio CD like
sunshine
said, it's best to
first, rip the cd in wav format then burn it. Converting Discs from
wav to mp3 and back alters the quality of the original twice.

Kim, and pat, the fact is that an mp3 is compressed, if you
convert it
back
to a wave file you will not get the same quality as you would have
if you
had ripped it into wave, or lossless files like flac, .

Yes, you take the file into Gold Wav, and once you do that you can
save it as a .wav file. I'm pretty sure this is correct.
