I've never tried this with Winamp, although I have the "pro" version of that also.  Usually, I can get this done with Windows Media Player.  If you put the CD containing the files into the player Windows Media Player comes up (I'm assuming you have that set as the default).  One choice is to "rip files from CD".  If you pick that choice, it makes mp3 copies of the files and stores them on your hard drive.  However, you lose a small bit of sount quality doing this.  It depends on the bit rate at which the files are copied.  However, it's very minimal if you use a high bit rate.  I think the default rate is 128.  On average stereo sspeakers or ear buds, you'll probably not notice anything at all.  There is also supposed to be a way to change your MP3 files back to wav format.  I've only been able to do that once, and that was accidentally.  The advantage of MP3 files is that you can get a lot more material on a CD, or SD card.

Hello list members,
I am using WE 7.5 on a Windows XP pro system.  I would like to know how to make a mp3 audio file from a audio cd.  I do have Windows media player as well as Winamp.  Thank you for your help.
