The last time I used this I did the following: typed in the '@' (at) followed by a few letters of the person's name, Routed the mouse pointer to cursor, Then I moved the pointer down until I heard the name of the person I wanted to tag, made sure the pointer was on the name and then left clicked it.
Finding the name can be messy, sometimes there is other text surrounding it. It is important to note that this worked a couple of weeks ago in Facebook, which does not mean it still works.
