No reason having either narrator or nvda running would cause a problem,
just tell it you want to install without speech and go for it.

Ok, What speech voice are you using?
When this happens did you use the kill window eyes script.
Also Next time you have this happen have someone look in the task mannager
and see if window eyes is still running.
Were you alt tabbing through: windows?
If so again it could be caused by the speech engine you are using at the
time.
The Loss of speech issue is quite interesting.
i sometimes notice that the control back slash comand will not even work in
xp at times.
I have had this problem with speech all of a sudden also not being Availible
to use, Yes narrator, or nvda work to solve the problem of getting back
window eyes at times.
But really if this is a speech or window eyes issue in the way the
process's are handeled Gwmicro needs to get it fixed.
Also, a question for those of us that hav the MS update that disables the
auto run functionality for cd/dvd drives and other devices how will a person
get window eyes installed if the install does not auto runn? I asume that
having narrator, or nvda running might cause a problem in the installation
process?

Subject: loss of speech
Running WE 7.5 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine.
I have been experiencing random loss of speech issues. Initially I
assumed it was related to the Win 7 loss of sound issue but with the
three loss of speech I have had today Sound was still available and WE
simply stopped speaking. Narrator still worked. If I tried to start WE
I got the message that WE was already running. Control backslash would
not bring up the WE UI. Only way I found to resolve it was reboot
Windows. Is this a known issue with WE 7.5?
