Hello all,
So I completed my system reinstallation including most applications that I use on a regular basis. I was able to backup and restore most application settings and am running an up-to-date copy of Windows XP Pro SP3 with all updates. I reinstalled Window Eyes, deciding to go without preserving any previous settings. I've noticed that although maybe it's too soon to comment, things seem to run a lot better. Window Eyes isn't hanging when the screen saver comes on (whether its important to have one or not), also it seems that when I unload and reload Window Eyes from memory now I can browse the internet without restarting. This could be in part due to the completely fresh copy of Windows, however I think it's worth noting that the one program which is not part of this new installation in any way is Jaws, and I wonder if having that installed is causing people a lot of grief with Window Eyes. Perhaps I'm going out of line by saying this but, isn't it possible that Jaws has code in it to disrupt other screen reader products? Anyway, I'll report more if I see problems but so far this system is running a lot better.
