Hello Brenda,
This is an issue which we are presently investigating. In the mean time,
you can use Control-Shift-Tab followed by Control-Tab when you reply to
a message, or disable autoload for Thunderbird itself. By doing so,
however, you will have to manually engage Browse Mode any time a message
window loads.
