I can't speak directly to the l40 display, but I can tell you that the
Alva satellite 570 will not work directly with a 64 bit system. You
need to purchase a usb protocol converter from Optelec, but not sure
just which displays that converteer supports. We have one here and are
having serious problems with the thing randomly locking up the display.
I'd check with Optelec to be sure that the display is supported.
Apparently the newer 640 displays will work with a 64 bit system and I
believe this converter takes the 640 codes and converts them to the
Satellite codes, but this is mostly an assumption on my part, especially
since we can't get the thing to work properly here.
And, the converter costs $500.

Hi:
I have a friend who is currently running Window-ees 7.2 on an XP
machine and is using an alva L40 Satellite braille display. He is
planning to upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit and Window-eyes 7.5.
Can he use his Alva braille display and, if so, what does he have to
do to make it compatible with the new operating system?
