Hi Dave and all,
For several years now I've sent out a plea for an accessible
accounting program.
What you are asking for seems to be a bit different than what I was
after, but here goes.
I tried QuickBooks and Quicken and was very disappointed. Some kind
soul suggested I try CashManager.
I did. I have been most profoundly pleased. It took a while for me
to get my feet under me since I have to use all of the features of
WinEyes, cursor and mouse as well as arrows and tabs. But, it has
been usable out of the box from the beginning.
The support has been fantastic. The folks in New Zealand where
CashManager hails from are right there whenever I need them. They
are willing to fix anything that isn't going well and even make some
changes that are required by the US that are not even necessary in
the UK or NZ. I've been amazed at their attention to detail and
interest in making the program work for us.
I can control my business and function solo which I have never been
able to do before. I've always needed assistance at certain
junctures and now, I am free to fly as I wish. Without sighted assistance!
Quicken was my choice before I came across CashManager, but, I
discovered that the good job I thought it was doing was faulty. The
records=-keeping ability of Quicken fell far short of
adequate. QuickBooks was even worse.
I've never tried the other major accounting programs, so I can't speak to them.
CashManager has been my salvation.
You have asked for a budgeting program and CashManager has budgeting
features as well as basic accounting and invoicing features that work
marvelously. Try it, You'll like it! They have a trial/demo program
that will give you plenty of space to make your own evaluation.

Hey list,
Does anyone know of any sort of budgetting software that's
accessible? I was going to use excel, but some other program might
be a bit more intuitive. I tried gnucash, it's open source but it's
really hard to do, all mouse cursor. Any thoughts or suggestions are
welcome, thanks,
