Hi Steve. This happens with all documents. I am running microsoft
security essentials which isn't horribly accessible, but does the job
for me. In other words, I don't know how to disable any sort of office
protection it might have; that would be odd though seeing as they are
both ms products although I wouldn't put it past them. I even did a
reinstall of office and the problem was still there, also did a we fix
set, no updates necessary, and checked that I was running all aps up to
date. I don't have that computer booted up, but next I will try running
word without any aps running and see if that helps, although that limits
my usage of other programs, but I'm not sure what else to do.

Dave,
Excessive delays are definitely not normal with Word 2010 and the latest
version of Window-Eyes. Are you seeing this in specific documents, or
does it happen all the time? What antivirus is on your machine? Does
disabling any MS Office protection it offers help?

Steve

Hi list,
Does anyone else have really, really sluggish speech when trying to
navigate a word doc in office 2010? I'm running WE 7.5.1, win 7 64 bit,
8 gb of ram, and a quadcore. It's frustrating, we're talking several
seconds in waiting for a response if I get one at all. The read to end
feature works ok, but god help you if you want to go line by line.
