Kim,
What is your problem? You press the Spacebar, and the movie starts to play.
You press the Period-key on your keyboard, and the movie stops playback.
That should be pretty forward.
When comes to the speed adjustment, I did notice the same, that sound
disappears. Not sure exactly why, but it might be that speed adjustments
only steps through the pictures in the movie at a faster rate, and sound is
not heard. This is my guess, based on how things worked on an old VHS
hardware player. Others might have another view of the matter.
OK, so is there anything else, that I missed in your question? If so, feel
free to come back for more help. Or, you might have a look at the FAQ on the
web. Under your Start menu, and programs, Go to the CCCP, and find FAQ. Not
sure how informative it is in conjunction of your question, as I never
checked it myself. Just noticed the choice was there.

Subject: Ninite.com's DVD player and accessibility with Window-Eyes
I finally was able to download and install the DVE player from Ninite.com.
While I can get it to play DVE's, When Window-Eyes speaks a lot of the
controls, the response is rather ambiguous. for example: when looking
through the "play" menu, it defines the play-back control as "play pause p
space". It defines the stop control as "stop period s". There are also
controls that allow you to increase or decrease the speed (I assume), but
when I try it, all I manage to do is stop the sound altogether. It sounds
like it could be a really good program. Are there problems with it, or is
it just me?
