try useing the voice rotor app.
many times when i loose all sound. i mean no windows or w e sound i can rotor
between the decaccess32 and the sapi 5 voices a few times and it will reload
the realtec sound drivers on my new gigabyte motherboard. without haveing to
reboot windows.
realtec does not have updated drivers for my board yet.

My loss of speech seems to be similar to what all of you describe,
except I can't bring it back by restarting windoweyes, I have to
reboot to get it back. Sounds like we're all having similar problems
with different causes and fixes.
