This is one of the most useful features WE has for working with Web pages. I
use it extensively with my bank's website and it saves me a great deal of time.
I can pay bills in less than 20 minutes each month and the place mark feature
is largely responsible for making it possible for me to navigate through the
site so rapidly.

If you think ahead, you can map out the exact number of lines you need WE to
read for any place marker. I've set most to read only one line -- that's the
line of the link I need. But for some tasks, like the section of the page that
verifies I've made a transaction, I have Window Eyes autoread multiple lines.
In this case, 15 lines. In doing so, it reads the transaction date, amount,
payee and effective date. We can always go to the same line on the page, go to
the line number and specified text, or use line number and text Search. It's
never been completely clear to me what the difference between the second and
third option is, but I have better results with the third, so use it almost
always. I also tend to designate place markers for the domain instead of just
the page. That too seems to work better -- as long as I don't have too many
place markers for one website.

Dave,

Yes, I just had a look, and in the "Window-Eyes Features" section, there's
"working with the internet", and in this chapter is a topic for "place markers".

I did a quick experiment and found j and k move you forward and backward
through the list of whatever placemarkers you've defined for that page, and
control-shift-k opens a dialog which allows you to define your current location
as a place marker. I did this on the google search page so that I can find the
beginning of the search results and skip over the add results, and it seemed to
work great.

Hth,

Chip

I'll admit, sorry eric I don't have a response to your question, but I'll admit
I've not fooled around with place markers because I don't know how they work
and haven't had time to read the manual. Is there a tutorial on these nifty
things?
