If you could attach it that'd be great. Thanks a million! From: bob jutzi [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, November 20, 2011 9:40 AM To: 'bob jutzi'; Katherine Moss Subject: RE: WE/Qwicken?
I finally gor around to a Part2 which includes using reading cursor to locate info. On the screen, doing updates and backing up quicken data. Have no clue as to how often Blindcooltech is updated, but I can attach it if interested. Part3 will go into reconciling, tracking expenses for each category, and manually entering transactions into Quicken since some may choose not to automate Quicken to work directly with their bank. For curiousity sake, I did install Quicken 2010 and no, those hotkeys are new in 2011. That's good to hear. And I'll definitely tell my parents about the hotkey thing. They are kind of the if it ain't broke don't fix it type, so they need a jarring excuse to even consider an upgrade. Nice job! I have decided that I am no longer going to need anyone to give me a hand on this when I reinstall it in December. By the way, how did you figure out that the custom control was a button? I noticed Window-eyes only spoke "Custom Control" so tried reclassing as buttons to see whether it was possible to auto-label. Found there was no need for auto-labeling as WE automatically recognized the buttons. Can't remember which ver. Of Quicken. And remember, I am using Qwicken 2010 on my computer, does that matter? Is 2010 at all different than 2011? Thanks! Though I do have the upgrade option available but I'll have to ask my father if when he got it for me for my birthday like last year if he got any upgrade protection for it. The 2010 isn't much different than '11 other than to my knowledge, there aren't as many hotkeys. Quicken occasionally offers a discount on new versions, but don't think an upgrade plan exists. My bank is finally back on-line so just uploaded Part 1 of Quicken podcast. I'm not sure when the site will be updated but I can attach it for you, if interested. I use Window-eyes but it should apply to JAWS. I really need to get busy and post a Blindcooltech for the '11 version since it adds some keyboard shortcuts for things such as Reconcile and Update transactions. You need to use your reading cursor in order to read your Available balance and your Ending balance which is critical. Your ending balance is what you have after any outstanding transactions have cleared. If you have it configured as I do, quicken will connect to your bank and update itself but you still do need to Reconcile to verify the transactions are correct. Cool thanks. I'll be doing that next time I get home though, definitely. For isn't that program sort of automatic when it comes to balances? Like, once you enter your information, you don't really have to do anything much to it, do you? With the exception of the status of the Radiobuttons which are displayed at the beginning of installation, it works OK with WE but could be more accessible. Just arrow down to the second radiobutton and tab over to "Get Started" if I'm correct. It's been a while since I've installed Quicken. I've used Quicken since the 2000 ver. And love it. I posted a podcast on Blindcooltech.com for setting up Quicken '09 and need to get around to doing one for 2011. Vers. 2011 and '12 are the same. Both have added hotkeys for updating transactions and reconciling. Once you understand the layout, it's extremely useable.
