Hi Veronica, It's likely you don't have to update any set files.
If you'd like to know for sure though, then go the WE control panel, and under the file menu you'll see a menu choice for "factory settings". In there it will show you the version number of the factory set file currently available, and if you have installed it, then the version number of the set file which you are using at the moment. If they match, then you don't need to update that set file. If they do not match, and if you want to update it, you'll be given a chance to merge various dictionaries and graphic definitions you have, in with what's coming from the factory, but unfortunately I don't think that merging hotkeys is an option (so I think you would lose them). I do know for certain if you have installed any apps specific to the program the set file is for, then you will lose the association for the app, and so you would have to reinstall the app after you update the factory set file. For instance, if you update the set files for office 2010, and you've installed my Word Advanced Features app (which is specific to Word's set file), then you'd have to reinstall this app after updating the set file. Also, you'd have to reinstall the WordNav app, which is another one specific to the Word set file. hth, Chip -----Original Message----- From: Veronica Elsea [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, November 21, 2011 7:36 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Factory settings, WE 7.5.2 Okay, it's been a long day and I think I'm having a stupid moment here. But I can't find any info on updating set files in WE 7.5.2. The read me used to say which set files had changed when we did an upgrade. When I look through the list of factory settings, I do notice several where it says mine are updated. But if I update to the current set files, will I lose my hot keys that I had changed? I'd really rather not have to make a list of set files which I change, then go through by hand and change the hot keys again. Or will the newly installed factory set files honor the hot keys which I've already changed and made global? Like I said, just feeling chicken. Thanks. Veronica We Woof You A Merry Christmas!
