I have asked a few questions in the past about version 3.1 of TB with
the TB Enhance app, but would like to get clarity about a few things
with the latest TB8 and the TB Enhance 1.0.9 app, if support can please
respond to these?
1. It's been confirmed after the release of W-E 7.5.2 that the TB
Enhance app is indeed still supported with Thunderbird 8. After
comparing notes with a local user using the same combination, some of
the features of TB Enhance do not work consistently with the latest TB,
and in fact, did not with TB 3.1. I don't wish to belabour the
previously reported "preview pane opened" and "preview pane closed"
messages, but this does seem to appear on more than just one or two
systems, based on messages posted to the list. The alt-1, alt-3 and
alt-5 hot keys to read various header info in an opened message, only
works occasionally. The other times the entire top part of the window is
read, including the window title and menu bar.
2. When removing or disabling the TB Enhance app, even without set
files associated with Thunderbird, most windows are reported correctly.
I've asked the question after the 7.5.2 release, but haven't seen a
clear answer on this, i.e. has support for TB 8 been hard coded in W-E
7.5.2 to some extent?
3. When moving through messages in an existing message window, pressing
delete to open and read the next one, sometimes W-E will read the
subject line, followed by a short pause, followed by the message body,
which is a neat way to read messages. However, often W-E apparently does
not pick up the subject line, which results in a delay of a few seconds
after pressing delete before the first screen of the message body is read.
4. Can it please be varified which setting under "reading display" is
preferable when using TB 8 with the latest TB Enhance app to get the
best results, i.e. an existing message window or a new tab? Thus far I'm
getting the best results with an existing message window, but am
wondering though if using the "new tab" option could bring about even
better results when perhaps changing other settings in TB? If memory
serves, the "new tab" option was recommended by support for the older TB
3.1.
Thanks in advance for clarifying the above.
